What Are Liquid Chillers?

Liquid chillers are cooling systems designed to lower the temperature of liquids, which are then used to cool various processes, equipment, or environments. These systems are widely employed in industrial, commercial, and institutional settings due to their efficiency, scalability, and versatility.

Types of Liquid Chillers

1. Air-Cooled Chillers

  • Use ambient air to dissipate heat from the refrigerant.
  • Equipped with condenser coils and fans.
  • Common in small to medium applications or areas with limited water availability.

2. Water-Cooled Chillers

  • Use water and cooling towers to reject heat.
  • Ideal for large-capacity applications requiring high efficiency.
  • Better suited for hot climates and high-performance needs.

3. Absorption Chillers

  • Use a thermal process (often powered by waste heat or steam) instead of a compressor.
  • Suitable for facilities with waste heat or where electricity is expensive.

Example: Our CWB FC utilizes the Free-Cooling principle to optimize energy usage, reducing operating costs and environmental impact. Our chillers guarantee high thermodynamic performance, meeting the requirements of the Ecodesign ErP2021 – SEPR HT (EU) 2016/2281 regulations.

Air cooled chillers

FRIULAIR Chillers offers air-cooled chillers with cooling capacities ranging from 1 to 1,200 kW. These systems provide precise water temperature control and continuous operation, suitable for multiple industrial applications.  Versions suitable for applications with high/low air temperatures; and also for low water outlet temperatures.

Water cooled chillers: 

The modular water-cooled chillers and thermochillers from FRIULAIR Chillers provide precise and reliable thermal control with notable energy efficiency. Designed for large facilities and environments with high temperatures, they guarantee optimal performance and consistent operation. 

Heat Pump chillers

Friulair Chillers produces liquid chillers and reversible heat pumps for accurate control of water temperature. The HEN range is designed for specific sectors such as wineries and breweries and industrial cooling, increasing productivity and optimizing product quality. A multifunctional system that integrates cooling and heating, ideal for systems with both requirements. 

Drycooler: 

The CDC dry cooler range from FRIULAIR Chillers offers air liquid coolers in free-cooling mode, with power outputs ranging from 300 to 1,200 kW. This eco-friendly solution significantly reduces energy consumption, representing a sustainable and low-impact choice, ideal for dry and temperate climates. Also available with adiabatic systems. 

Special Solutions

FRIULAIR Chillers designs and develops integrated tailor-made solutions for specific industrial processes: the customized CST units, the TGR thermochiller for injection molding and the QBE TOTEM chiller equipped with a dual hydraulic circuit, ideal for laser machines. Advanced Cooling Technology: Our air-cooled and water-cooled condensation technologies offer optimal solutions for various applications and environmental conditions. 

  • For our air-cooled chillers, we offer high-efficiency compressors and fans and heat exchange coils designed to maximize cooling.  
  • Our water-cooled chillers integrate chilled water systems, and guarantee the best performance in environments characterized by high external ambient temperatures.

The easily removable panels provide immediate access to system components. The clear layout of components, the simplicity of the refrigerant and hydraulic circuits, and the numbering of the electrical system cables facilitate normal operator inspection tasks, making technicians’ work easier and saving their time.
